Court Companion
Court Companion is a tool that guides private individuals and small law firms through Swiss civil proceedings. It codifies the recurring procedural steps, deadlines and form requirements, so that proceedings can be conducted in a structured way. The platform is in development and is being refined together with selected lawyers as pilot users.
Structured guidance for Swiss court proceedings — with AI tools.
Court Companion addresses a field in which the hurdle between a private individual and the Swiss courts is often formally higher than is necessary in substance. Swiss civil proceedings follow a clearly regulated course with conciliation proceedings, leave to sue, main hearing and judgment phase. Anyone unfamiliar with these steps misses deadlines or files formally incomplete submissions. Court Companion structures the procedure without seeking to replace legal advice in complex cases.
For whom
The platform is aimed at private individuals with ongoing civil proceedings in Switzerland, particularly in the classic areas of tenancy, employment, consumer law and neighbourly disputes. In addition, smaller law firms use it as a structured tool for the mandates in which they take on the conduct of proceedings but wish to automate the routine steps.
What it does
- Swiss procedural law codified, structured by procedural phase and canton
- Deadline calendar with warnings before key filing deadlines expire
- Form assistant that requests the necessary inputs for the respective procedural phase
- Structured document repository with tagging by procedural phase and evidentiary status
- Evidence-secure archiving of all filed and received written submissions
- Self-hosted variant, so that the procedural data remains with the client
Why it exists
In Switzerland, many affected parties forgo enforcing justified claims because the formal complexity of the proceedings appears too high to them. At the same time, the underlying rules are well documented and follow clear patterns. Court Companion makes these patterns accessible and lowers the entry hurdle without diluting the legal substance.
Roadmap note
The product is in development. Pilot uses are running with selected lawyers and in self-tests by private individuals in non-complex proceedings. Wider availability is planned for the medium term.
